At Circuit, you’ll get 32 days of paid holiday per year, to be used whenever you like. This allowance covers a full calendar year, from the 1st of January to the 31st of December.

Four weeks in one go, one day off (almost) every other week, or anything in between is fine with us.

PTO Approval

We encourage you to give us as much notice as possible when you request time off. We operate a 'Default Yes' policy, meaning your request will always be granted unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Despite this policy, we will always seek to allow any requested PTO.

The amount of notice you're expected to give is roughly 1 time unit (day, week, month) more than the amount of time you want off.

Examples of the notice period required for the Holiday Guarantee are as follows:

The expected notice period applies to planned time off that can be reasonably planned with enough notice. Taking last-minute days off for things less predictable, eg, in aid of your mental health, to look after loved ones, or for emergencies, does not require you to give the above amount of notice.

National Holidays

Any national holidays in your country of residence that you want to take off come out of this 32-day quota. Whether or not you take them off is up to you. Similarly, you're not forced to use your PTO on specific days, such as the period between Christmas and New Year.

During your first year

In your first year, the amount of holiday you're entitled to is proportional to how far through the year you joined. For example, joining at the end of June (6 months into the year) means that from your start date until the year-end, you'll be entitled to half the standard amount of paid holiday (16 days).

Sickness

You're free to have time off as and when you or a family member is sick. We ask that you let your manager know as soon as you do if you won't be working on any given day, but you don’t need to ask for permission.

The last thing anyone needs is to feel financial pressure when they are unwell, so for this reason, we will pay you 100% of your salary when you are off sick. We don’t put a limit on the number of days that we will pay you for, but if that number goes over 14 days in a rolling year, then your manager will check in with you so we can work out how best to support you.
